Dr. Amy Afsaneh Ighani

Dr. Amy Ighani, M.D. is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 25 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient care in the Dallas area. She grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed her internal medicine residency at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She began her medical career as a hospitalist at Baylor Garland Medical Center in 1998 and later transitioned to outpatient practice at Dallas Medical Specialists in 2004. Dr. Ighani is fluent in English, Spanish, and Farsi.

Dr. Ighani believes in a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise, and stress management. She strongly believes in practicing evidence-based medicine, integrating the best available scientific research with clinical expertise to guide thoughtful, individualized medical decision-making. She is committed to ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Her clinical interests include women’s healthcare, obesity management, diabetes, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Ighani grew up in a family where medicine played a central role. Her father was a general dentist and her mother was a nurse. She has two brothers, one an anesthesiologist and the other an ophthalmologist both in the DFW area.

She is passionate about establishing strong doctor-patient relationships, describing the ideal connection as a partnership where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ighani enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring local restaurants, and attending theatrical productions. She loves traveling, hiking, water rafting, and participating in medical mission trips overseas to serve underserved populations in South America.
