Dr. Melissa Philip, a proud native of Dallas, Texas, is a board-certified family physician who has always been drawn to the medical field. She was inspired by her mother's work as a nurse, making home visits, and this piqued her interest in medicine. During her college years at Baylor University in Waco, she grew increasingly interested in the osteopathic philosophy of medicine, which emphasizes a holistic view of the patient and recognizes the body's natural healing ability in conjunction with modern medical treatments.
With a deep understanding that no organ in the body operates independently and that the way the body functions as a whole is crucial to understanding disease processes, Dr. Philip went on to pursue her medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She then completed her residency training in Family Medicine at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Philip returned to Dallas and joined the primary care team at Baylor Scott and White. In the summer of 2021, she entered private practice with Internal Medicine Associates of Plano, where she is able to provide personalized, compassionate care to her patients. Her areas of special interest include preventive care, women's health, and the management of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and thyroid disease.
In her free time, Dr. Philip enjoys cooking, going on walks with her family, tending to her garden, and taking road trips when possible.
