Dr. Jessica Huerta has nurtured a lifelong passion for medicine since her early teenage years, when she was encouraged by her parents to pursue her interest. She is a board-certified physician in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, who has devoted her career to providing care to patients of all ages and treating a wide range of medical conditions.
As a native Texan from San Antonio, Dr. Huerta completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University in Waco before moving on to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010.
To further hone her skills, Dr. Huerta pursued a residency in Family Medicine at Methodist Charlton in Dallas, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. Afterwards, she completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA, where she had the opportunity to work with Division 1 collegiate teams, the Erie Otters of the OHL, and the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA D League. Through her fellowship, she developed expertise in sports injury evaluation and treatment, ultrasound evaluation, injection guidance, and the use of biologic injections such as PRP.
Since 2014, Dr. Huerta has been practicing medicine in Texas, and has been serving the DFW area since 2016. Before joining Internal Medicine Associates of Plano, she served as a team physician for the Dallas Rattlers lacrosse team and the Texas Revolution arena football team.
Outside of work, Dr. Huerta enjoys spending time with her husband and children, as well as pursuing her hobbies of reading, quilting, and crocheting. She is also a student of the Brazilian martial art form Capoeira.
